Mosaic White Blend €21.00 – Chatzivaritis Estate, PGI Slopes of Paiko, Greece
A blend of grapes including Roditis and Assyrtiko which leads to an expressive and aromatic wine. It’s packed full of stone fruit (peach and apricot) combined with spice and anise notes. A little above medium bodied it has a long citrus and mineral finish.
Terra Prima White €24.00 – Can Rafols del Caus, Penedes DO, Spain
A blend of old vine Xarel-lo and Riesling with the Xarel-lo fermented in chestnut barrels to impart a rich mouthfeel. Stone fruit and nuttiness allied to citrus mineral finish that goes on for quite a while.
Mosaic Red Blend €21.00 – Chatzivaritis Estate, PGI Slopes of Paiko, Greece
Mainly made with Negoska and Xinomavro the wine is medium to full bodied with fine grained tannins. Flavours to the fore include wild berry fruit, cherry and herbal notes.
Auzan Rouge €19.95 – Chateau l’ermite d’Auzan, Costieres de Nimes, France
This blend of Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache punches way above its price bracket. It has a good balance of both fruit and savoury qualities and all colours of fruit – red, black and blue together with spice, licorice and black olives.
La Lloma Tinto €21.00 – Can Leandro, Valencia, Spain
A blend from Bonicaire and Monastrell fermented and aged in large oak barrels, amphorae and concrete. Smooth and pure with purple fruits, violet and balsamic notes.
Polisia Rosso Piceno Superiore €24.00 – Vigneti Vallorani, Le Marche, Italy
Benchmark Rosso Piceno made with Sangiovese and Montepulciano providing the supporting act. Rocco and Stefano only produce 5,400 bottles/year of this wine which is characterised by red and dark black fruit, spice, violet and Mediterranean herbs.
