Red wine
Weingut Schneider Spätburgunder
A lovely Spätburgunder aged in large format oak barrels for 24 months. Dark cherry notes with kirsch, truffle, nutmeg and liquorice. Lovely complexity with silky tannins and minerality. It has plenty of power with finesse and balance and would give many Burgundy a run for it’s money at this price level.

the producer
Weingut Reinhold & Cornelia Schneider
Reinhold and Cornelia Schneider farm 6.8ha of vines in the subregion of the Kaiserstuhl in Baden, South-West Germany. Up until 1981 the grapes were sold to a local cooperative, but Reinhold and Cornelia wanted to develop estate made wines to fulfill the great potential of their terroir in the Kaiserstuhl. They now make 40,000 bottles from a number of grapes cultivated on the estate including Spätburgunder,Weißburgunder, Ruländer and Sylvaner. The viticulture is all organic with spontaneous fermentations in the cellar and only small additions of sulphur at bottling.
