Red wine
Weingut Schneider Spätburgunder Diel 2016
From the Diel vineyard one of 3 elevated crus on the property. This comes from older vines and is also aged 24 months in large oak barrels. The quality moves up to another level with this wine – cherry, balsamic, sous bois and smoky notes with truffle and nutmeg on the nose. The palate is rich and luscious with silky smooth tannins.

the producer
Weingut Reinhold & Cornelia Schneider
Reinhold and Cornelia Schneider farm 6.8ha of vines in the subregion of the Kaiserstuhl in Baden, South-West Germany. Up until 1981 the grapes were sold to a local cooperative, but Reinhold and Cornelia wanted to develop estate made wines to fulfill the great potential of their terroir in the Kaiserstuhl. They now make 40,000 bottles from a number of grapes cultivated on the estate including Spätburgunder,Weißburgunder, Ruländer and Sylvaner. The viticulture is all organic with spontaneous fermentations in the cellar and only small additions of sulphur at bottling.
