Verum Cencibel Parcel Selection

Another delicious elegant wine from Elias Lopez Montero at Verum.

This is a delicious silky wine made from old vine Cencibel, the local name for Tempranillo. Lots of vibrant cherry and blue fruit notes with spicy nutmeg and cinnamon with some earthy accents too. The wine was aged 3 months in oak and 8 months in amphorae which gives it a lovely silky purity.

The area produces a lot of bulk wines but Verum take an alternate approach going the quality route with smaller volumes and organic viticulture and artisan low intervention vinification. Owned by the Montero Lopez family they have been making wine since 1788 – the newest generation of the family and incumbent winemaker Elias Montero Lopez is getting rave reviews from wine critics, in particular for the Ulterior range of wines. All the wines in the Ulterior range show excellent character, energy and balance.
