Le Faite Rouge, Saint Mont

The red version of Le Faite made with Tannat, Pinenc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is adorned by the same trademark wooden label and also takes blending direction from journalists and sommeliers. Like the white it is barrel aged for 12 months followed by 4 months settling. It is rich and full bodied, with dark blackberries, black currants, and spiciness. The Tannat adds complexity, firm tannin and lots of acidity for a balanced wine with a long finish. A real treat.

Le Faite Blanc, Saint Mont

This is an iconic wine. A mix of Gros Manseng, Petit Courbu and Petit Manseng, it is almost gold in colour. Crisp and fresh with lemon-zest and apple and oodles of minerality. And then, as it opens and warms, comes tropical ripe fruit and a floral rose nose, followed by salinity coupled with honey. Lees and oak aging contribute layers of complexity and a mighty finish. The blending is informed by an open tasting session of journalists and sommeliers. The “wooden” label is a tribute to the growers who kept their wine buried under soil, identified by a wooden marker. One of Gascony’s best kept secrets.
