Pierre Gimonnet Special Club Vintage 2009

This is a special blend of the estate’s oldest vines, some dating back as far as 1911 and 1913. All the vineyards are either Grand Cru or Premier Cru status so you can be sure that only the very best fruit has been selected. Vinification is carried out with the utmost care and painstaking attention to detail. The result is a wine with great structure, depth and finesse. You can expect the full spectrum of flavours – tangerines and apples, buttery pastry, brioche and a streak of fine minerality that keeps your attention long into the finish.

the producer

Pierre Gimonnet et Fils

Every year around 250,000 bottles of Champagne leave the cellars of Pierre Gimmonet & Fils. Unlike some Champagne houses, all the grapes are grown on the estate. Situated in the Cotes de Blancs, Chardonnay is the only grape used – so literally every wine is a Blanc de Blancs. This is very rare. There are three hallmarks to the wine – a distinct flintiness from the chalky soils of the Cotes de Blancs, the ability of all the wines to further age in bottle and a quest for balance, elegance and complexity in every wine. Today the company is still owned and run by the family – brothers, and grandson’s of Pierre, Olivier and Didier Gimmonet.
