Pierre Gimonnet Cuvee Gastronome 1er Cru Vintage 2009
This cuvee was created for restaurants that required a more delicate “demi-mousse” sparkle to go with food. It was achieved by adding 4 grams less sugar when creating the mousse. Being elegant and creamy, it is the perfect food wine. It is also amazingly refreshing – it smells like an orchard of apples and lemons that envelops your senses. Excellent wine making has resulted in a wine that is complex and very long with flavours of biscuit, cream and toast remaining on the palate.

the producer
Pierre Gimonnet et Fils
Every year around 250,000 bottles of Champagne leave the cellars of Pierre Gimmonet & Fils. Unlike some Champagne houses, all the grapes are grown on the estate. Situated in the Cotes de Blancs, Chardonnay is the only grape used – so literally every wine is a Blanc de Blancs. This is very rare. There are three hallmarks to the wine – a distinct flintiness from the chalky soils of the Cotes de Blancs, the ability of all the wines to further age in bottle and a quest for balance, elegance and complexity in every wine. Today the company is still owned and run by the family – brothers, and grandson’s of Pierre, Olivier and Didier Gimmonet.
