Red wine
Fattoria La Magia Brunello di Montalcino
A delicious wine, delivering controlled power and very complex flavours. Grapes from 40 year old vines are harvested at optimum maturity and fermented in stainless steel and large oak with a 35 day maceration. The process is all as natural as possible with little or no intervention – spontaneous fermentation with only small amounts of sulphites at bottling. The result is a very elegant wine that unfurls in the glass to exhibit dark cherry, grilled notes, mediterranean herbs, leather and minerality. Long, full bodied and complex, well balanced and a wine for the long term. Decanting advised.

the producer
Fattoria La Magia
Fabian Schwartz is the second generation of the Schwartz family to run Fattoria La Magia, a 15hA organic estate on some of the best terroir in Montalcino just south-east of the village itself. Vital to the entire operation are Fabian’s wife Bianca Ferretti who is the Chief Administration Officer, Lisa Tinturini, Export Sales Manager and Assistant Winemaker Sofia Calliari. It was easy to see Fabian’s philosophy during a summer 2017 visit to the estate – look after the vines naturally and make the wines with minimum human intervention. The results are complex, characterful, balanced wines that never overbear.
