Red wine
Fabrice Gasnier Chinon Vieilles Vignes
Immediately obvious is the depth of the staining on the cork. This is a concentrated, rich but elegant expression of Cabernet Franc from 50 year old vines – and it’s less than 13% ABV. The berries are macerated for 30 days and spend 6 months in old barrels. The result is a simply gorgeous, balanced wine with defined red and black fruit aromas and the complexity of violets, sweet spice and licorice. An elegant, classy wine, wonderful to enjoy now or in many years to come – with a finish as long as the Loire itself.

the producer
Domaine Fabrice Gasnier
Working with his father Jacky, Fabrice Gasnier knew from an early age that one day he would make the wine on this 4th generation family estate in Chinon – between the rivers Loire and Vienne. Since 2008, Fabrice and his wife Sandrine have embraced organic and biodynamic agriculture, obtaining Ecocert and Demeter certification respectively. And this is not a fashion – it is a long-term commitment to nurture the land in order to grow the best grapes possible, in order to make the best wine possible. And naturally, every wine tastes specifically of that year. As every vintage should.
