Rita Marques Contraste Douro Red
Rich, powerful yet balanced red with 70% of the blend aged for 18 months in oak. Multi-layered and complex wine with blackberry, smoke, violet, dark chocolate and spice. On the palate it has ample mouthfeel with fine grained tannins that will allow this wine to age for 5 or more years. This is a big wine. But with layers of complexity, it is a great example of how such a wine can have more than just that one dimension.

Conceito
Rita Marques is a talented young winemaker at the helm of this project in the Douro Superior area. After qualifying as a winemaker in Portugal and Bordeaux, Rita travelled the world to gain wine experience before returning to take over her Mother’s vineyards. The property consists of 5 Quintas with old vines, some of which are field blends planted in the 1940’s. Rita has always farmed the vines organically and will be certified organic from the 2019 vintage.
