Contesa Vini

Abruzzo is one of our favourite regions in Italy to source wine – it’s picturesque and has indigenous varieties of great potential in Montepulciano and Pecorino. Many of the vineyards are ideally situated on hillsides between the Adriatic and Apennines, with mountain and sea breezes tempering the abundant sunshine. Contesa Vini, run by the innovative and industrious Pasetti family in Collecorvino (the hill of the Crow), is such a place – a beautiful compact winery surrounded by an amphitheatre of vineyards. Rocco Pasetti founded the winery in 2000 having worked with his brother in their family winery for many years, his son Franco helps with winemaking and other son Ugo works on the commercial side. The indigenous Pecorino is the speciality of the winery as Rocco was one of the first to rediscover its excellent potential in Abruzzo. The vines are farmed organically without certification and the wines are excellent with clean characterful wines that give lots of pleasure at very fair prices.
