Legend might be a word that’s overused in wine circles but probably not in the case of Domenico Clerico. Domenico purchased a small quantity of vines in 1977 and the rest is history. A member of the so called ‘Barolo Boys’ he was at the forefront of ‘modern’ Barolo, making the wines in an approachable manner and extremely drinkable in their youth. Based in Monforte d’Alba in Southern Barolo, today the estate has 21hA of vines spread across a few plots which are tended organically without certification. Sadly Domenico passed away a couple of years ago – the winery remains in family hands and we are very proud to preserve his memory through selling his wines in Ireland. We do get access upon release to some of the estate’s Riserva Barolo so please enquire if interested.
